The Altar of Blood is where the last traces of Caphras, the Immortal Alchemist, were found. According to the records, it used to be an altar where human sacrifices for the ancient Kzarka took place, but it was sealed away with the power of the Gem of Balance. The relic that calls out Black Illusions is known to be the key to gain ultimate power.


The Altar of Blood is a 3 player party defense game where you must protect the altar from an immense number of monsters and boss monsters that appear in each illusion stage. You need to coordinate with each other to defend the relic from the monsters charging in from all directions.


Its stages range from the 1st Illusion to the 10th Illusion, and the higher the illusion stage, the stronger its monsters become. Adventurers who participate in the Altar of Blood must defeat all monsters and protect the altar from being destroyed.

Prerequisite Quest

You must complete [Lv. 56] Altar of Blood at Star's End to proceed to the Altar of Blood. You can find the quest in the suggested quests from the Black Spirit after activating the Combat quest filter.

Access the Altar of Blood from the ESC menu.


Rules

  • You can enter only as a party of 3.
  • Any character of Lv. 56 or higher who has completed the Altar of Blood prerequisite quest can enter.
Any character of Lv. 56 or higher can accept the Altar of Blood prerequisite quest from the Black Spirit.
  • The party leader can enter the Altar of Blood by pressing the Enter button from the ESC menu.
  • You can also enter the Altar of Blood through matchmaking, which will match you with other random players on the same server.
In order to join Altar of Blood without having formed a party, simply click on the button in the ESC menu or pop-up banner to enter the Altar of Blood and you will be randomly joined into a party with 2 other adventurers. Please note there may be some waiting time for you to be matchmade into a party.
  • Each illusion stage in the Altar of Blood will not start if the party leader does not have enough energy. (Energy needed: 100)
However, another party member with enough energy can be promoted to leader to start the Altar of Blood.
  • You cannot leave the party once you are in the Altar of Blood.
  • You can resurrect only via the resurrection skill of Witch/Wizard or the Medical Kit if you die in the Altar of Blood.
  • All dead characters will resurrect and recover their HP when the boss monster is defeated.
  • At any illusion stage, if the party leader is carrying Nightmare Fragment when all party members are dead, the retry window will pop up. If not, all characters will resurrect with their HP recovered, and the illusion stage selection window will pop up again.
  • You cannot use Campsite, Maid/Butler, World Map, Quest UI nor Minimap UI while in the Altar of Blood.
  • You can leave by selecting Exit Altar of Blood from the ESC menu or the Exit UI on top of the right-hand corner, after you have finished the Altar of Blood.
  • You cannot gain any Combat EXP nor Skill EXP by defeating monsters in the Altar of Blood.
  • Item Drop Amount/Rate Increase effects are not applied in the Altar of Blood.
  • The party leader can be delegated while the Altar of Blood Retry UI is on, and only the party leader can attempt to retry.
However, the party leader must be carrying Nightmare Fragment.

The boss monster of each illusion stage is significantly different from a standard monster. Be cautious!


Progression Order

  • The party leader can select the stage after entering the Altar of Blood.
  • Once the party leader selects the stage, his/her energy will decrease by 100 and NPC ‘Guide of the Abyss’ will appear at the center of the Altar of Blood.
  • Talking to Guide of the Abyss will activate the altar, which will consume an additional 20 energy.
  • Once the altar is activated, monsters will appear and attack the altar, which you must protect.
  • The boss monster will be summoned when you have defeated all monsters.
  • Once the boss monster appears, the altar can no longer be damaged.
  • Once you defeat the boss monster, you can proceed to the next stage by using 20 energy.


Note: Remember to not venture too close to the portals, as you will take massive damage.


Illusion Sequence and Rewards

You can acquire the corresponding Heritage of the Forgotten by defeating the bosses of each of the illusions.

※ Challenge Reward**: After you come out of Altar of Blood, you can open up the Challenges (Y) window and receive the Challenge Rewards obtained for completing the illusion stages. Please note that the Challenge Rewards cannot be claimed during your progressing in Altar of Blood.


There is a very low chance of obtaining the following defense gear boxes when you open Heritage of the Forgotten.

Useful Items for the Altar of Blood

1. Medical Kit

You cannot resurrect by yourself if you die in the Altar of Blood.

You can resurrect in the following way.

(1) By defeating the boss monster.

(2) Via resurrection skill of Witch/Wizard.

(3) By having another party member use the Medical Kit.

If all party members die, you fail to complete the Altar of Blood, so it is recommended that you purchase the Medical Kits beforehand to resurrect any dead party member.

Whether you succeed to clear an illusion stage will depend on how you use the Medical Kit.


2. Potions

The Altar of Blood monsters have both high DP and AP, which means Instant HP Potions are indispensable.

However, you cannot purchase any potion, including the HP Potion, once you are inside the Altar of Blood, so it is recommended that you buy enough potions before you enter.

Altar of Blood-Exclusive Items

1. Flare of the Ancients

This item is only effective while in the Altar of Blood. All monsters within range will be stunned when the Flare of the Ancients is used.

Note: Certain monsters or boss monsters of each stage are immune to Stun effect.

Tips:

- Flare of the Ancients is effective only in the Altar of Blood. Please be careful not to use it away outside the Altar of Blood as it will be gone.

- All monsters within range will be stunned when the Flare of the Ancients is used.

- Certain monsters or boss monsters of each stage are immune to Stun effect.

- You can craft Flare of the Ancients, Dim Origin of Clear Water, Dim Origin of Crimson Flame, Dim Origin of Earth by using Processing tab (L) → Simple Alchemy.


2. Nightmare Fragment

This item will let you retry a failed illusion. If you fail to clear an illusion of the Altar of Blood while holding "Nightmare Fragments", you can consume them to restart at the illusion stage you were on.

You can restart from the illusion stage you have failed if you use Nightmare Fragment. Be ready!


  • How to make via Simple Alchemy:

Tips

- In case you fail to complete any illusion stage, you can use the Nightmare Fragment and retry from the stage you have failed. With this, you can save energy and shorten record time.

- In case the party leader is not carrying the Nightmare Fragment when the party has failed to complete the Altar of Blood, another member who is carrying the Nightmare Fragment can be promoted to leader and retry the stage they have failed.
